An exciting new chapter in the State Cinema development began on April 5th 2012, with the long-awaited State Bookstore officially opening its doors to the public.

LOCATED IN VIBRANT NORTH HOBART

Originally located in the historic Soundy Building (1883), and now positioned in a new expanded store adjoining the cinema on Elizabeth Street in the vibrant North Hobart cultural hub, the State Bookstore is a boutique store, selling a wide range of genres but specialising in art, architecture, travel, biography and of course film!

We are the leading suppliers of Lamy pens & Moleskine notebooks, and also stock an eclectic range of stationary & gift items.

With the State Cinema, Bookstore and Café Bar all on the one premises, you can now enjoy a fine film, coffee or glass of wine, and take home your next great read all in one visit. We’re open seven days a week and open until late on Friday and Saturday nights, so you can pop in at your leisure for a treat anytime!

If one cannot enjoy reading a book over and over again,
there is no use in reading it at all.
