Naming the State Bookstore

Last month we asked our wonderful patrons for any ideas for a new name for the State Bookstore. Well, the entries came in droves. There were some creative, some simple, some brilliant, some crazy.

It was fabulous to get everyone’s ideas and there were some really good contenders. At one point we particularly liked “Liberty Bookstore” as the cinema used to be called the Liberty Theatre, and it came close – but in the end, the overwhelming feedback we had from everyone was to keep it straightforward and be proud of the name we already have. And we are proud of it, the more answers that came in saying “stay the same” the more we agreed.

So now we've spruced up our looks and moved into our new bigger and better space, we will hold steady as the State Bookstore. We hope you like it and can’t wait to have you pop in and see what we’ve done with the place! Opens Friday 27th July at 10.00am at 377 Elizabeth Street, North Hobart!
